Spruce is an X11 email client written by Jeff Stedfast using the Gtk+ widget set. It is geared toward speed and useability, supporting all the common features users want or need without sacrificing speed or space. You can use your own computer as your mail server for incoming and outgoing mail. It also supports the use of a remote Simple Mail Transport Protocol(SMTP) mail server at your Internet Service Provider (ISP), your employer, university or whatever. If a computer can sit on the Internet and gather the mail for you, Spruce can connect to it and plop it down on your desktop.
If your desktop computer is connected to the 'Net full time and serves as your mail server, Spruce can also manage your mail for you.
You can set up different Spruce mailboxes for different categories of mail, and it includes filters to automatically slip the incoming mail into the appropriate box. Spruce also supports GNUpg.
